Higher Walton is Preston Lancashire not Warrington Cheshire.
I think that christening of daughter Ann is far too early to be the Nancy Ashton I'm looking for and there's no mention of Peter being deceased on Ann's wedding cert of 1845.
Really appreciate all this digging.

I think Higher Walton near Preston and Warrington are one in the same,if you google it gives info and the changing bounderies.

Ah, now realise there must be 2 Higher Waltons. The one near Preston is nowhere near Warrington even accounting for boundary changes. No wonder I'd never heard of Moons Mill.
