Was she adopted? If not then please remove her full date of birth as that could lead to identify theft. It is also against the sites T&C.

For the record, she was registered as Elizabeth M Climo.

If she was adopted, have you added her name to the adoption contact register?

Make sure that you add her name to your tree. If she or relatives decide to explore her 'roots', they might use the Search All Trees function on this site to see if anyone has her listed.

As she was adopted, her birth name would have been changed & it's quite acceptable to post her full dob.
Never mind. There's enough detail in your OP for her or current relatives to identify her.

With adoptions, all you can really do is to 'reach out' and hope that she finds you.

Find her birth reg on FreeBmd - reg Jan 1956 - and leave a post'em. Create a generic email address such as @gmail, @hotmail etc & say that half sister would welcome contact.

If your wife knows which SS or adoption agency handled the adoption, they might be willing to hold a letter on file.

As regular users of the boards have seen, it's always possible that this thread is eventually spotted by someone who has news of her. Because of that possibility, even if you decide not to renew, make sure that your linked email address is always current. They would then be able to contact you by clicking on your name. Free members can reply to PMs even though they can't initiate them. What ever you do, do not delete your account.

Many thanks., we have been in contact with the authorities in Cornwall but they said their records are incomplete and there is nothing listed. We have also posted on the Rosamundy House Facebook page , and on a couple of missing / adopted websites too.

Adoptees searching for birth families tend to fall into 2 catagories.

- younger ones who've always known they were adopted and have the full support of their families
- older ones who wait until their elderly parents have died as they don't want to upset them.

There is also a third catagory who were never told they were adopted and were able to obtain a passport without a 'full' birth certificate. Elizabeth might fall into that one.
Those who have had a 'good' adoption may not have any curiosity about their origins.

Don't give up hope - she may make contact one day but it could take years

Many thanks, we have tried several avenues over the years, but still hope that we may get a result one day. Of course there is another possibility (well, many really) that Elizabeth may have passed away.
Thanks for your help.
