Just think Jax, only yesterday you would have got that all nicely readable on one sheet of paper AND you would have had little extra bits of info ;-)

Did you say 'grr'? Or was it more grrrr******?

Island

Island Report 9 Apr 2014 16:33

In other words - 'stuff the millions (?) of paying customers, we few know best'

Arrogant so and so's.

Make sure the calming candles are lit, the BP meds taken before you read the ........ replies on here: http://www.whodoyouthinkyouaremagazine.com/news/exclusive-findmypast-responds-website-redesign-criticism

Island like you I didn't want to lose my discount. I persevered for three days and then wrote to them. I haven't had a reply from them but I'm sure they must be very busy dealing with all the complaints. Thank goodness I have Ancestry. My upgrade was a birthday present from a friend so a bit of a waste of a prezzie really.

Island

Island Report 8 Apr 2014 11:23

TS, I renewed on March 11th, the preview was inaccessible at that point. I hadn't up until then been unduly phased by any website changes so subbed up so that I didn't lose my discount. I never expected the utter mess and user unfriendliness that I logged onto last week.

I'm disgusted by the ignorance and arrogance of these people.

I guess I just break the sub down into bite size per week portions to convince myself that £90 isn't a lot of money to lose.

Tenerife Sun

Tenerife Sun Report 8 Apr 2014 11:09

Five days ago not only did I renew but I upgraded to their world subscription. Big mistake. A senior moment I think. I should have read the reviews first. I get totally lost when searching and very frustrated as it is soooooo slow.

I liked the old site it was easy to follow and searching was far clearer than it is now.

Ideally I should have waited until they had sorted out all the glitches, of which there are many, and then renewed and upgraded. :-(

K Report 8 Apr 2014 08:57

I probably won't be renewing either. Find the new site very confusing now but I did find the index of their historical records an easier way to narrow the search to a specific record

Hi Joan

70 pages and counting......

I had first subscribed a year ago, but never got around to using it. I decided to renew this year, and the first time I tried to use it I was told I needed a certain number (I forget what) of credits to see what I wanted to see. I didn't see why I should have to pay more, so haven't visited again. Maybe I will try again sometime.

ZZzzz

ZZzzz Report 8 Apr 2014 00:33

Me thinks they will be putting their price up if others give up when really it would be better if they gave us back the old one.

Just canceled my auto subs payment, it is absolute c..p.

Wend

Wend Report 7 Apr 2014 18:55

I agree with everything everyone has said - I absolutely hate it! I told them so last week and also that I shan't be renewing at the end of this month :-|

As others have also said - heaven help the newbies (that is, if they get any - they will certainly be losing a lot of oldies)!!

LindainHerriotCountry

LindainHerriotCountry Report 7 Apr 2014 18:48

I hate it, I find it slow and cumbersome.

I accidentally deleted a census entry from my tree, try as I might, I couldn't find it on the new search. In the end I went back to Ancestry which I also have and came up with it in seconds. Since then I have tried other census searches and they give no results even though I know they are there. Heaven help any newcomers trying to build their tree in the first place

I have been doing newspaper searches and every time I narrow the search it removes the name I am looking for,so I have to put it in again. Basic glitches such as that shouldn't be there.

To me it is just about unusable, so unless they fix it ,I won't renew

Island

Island Report 7 Apr 2014 18:01

So.....how many in the wrecking mob compared to disatisfied customers?

Their arrogance knows no bounds it seems.

I have yet to see anyone speak in favour of it.

I understand our Phil was heavily involved with trashing it ......

he was demostrating parts from the new FMP at WDYTYA ....earlier this year

EDIT ... further I am told that the GR tree will never be fixed, as it sooooo "buggy" it is impossible to put right ...
