Sensible to wait until this evening before going out Mel. Have you got anywhere out of the way. that you can leave a patch of nettles for the butterflies to lay their eggs on

Yes got to wait now and hope any appointment avoids things I have booked.

Cynth took me down so there was air con in her car then she came into the waiting room, it was the small one upstairs and the windows were open with a breeze blowing throgh from the shaded side of the surgery. In the doctor's room he had a large fan going. so it was cool there.

That is shocking Ann if he went a year ago ,so now he has to see the gp and he's no further forward in the queue for some treatment.

Anng let's hope you soon get your appointment through quickly and don't have to wait to long sounds as if he was really efficient with the examination.

Phew we're now at 29 degrees it's going to be a hot night in bed .

Well I'm a lovely cool (I don't think) 26 degrees here according to the pc and 27 according to the weather station thing I have.

Had lunch but hav'nt been out again yet just waiting till it cools down a bit and may start again late in the early evening. I want to get all the dead out of the plum tree and strim round the apple tree as BIL has let all nettles grow round it nd all up the side of the wall on the way down the road.

The doctor sounds as if he was good AnnG and it seems you were right as he also thinks they are BCCs including the one you thought might be an ulcer, so it's good you went to get them checked. I hope you don't have to wait long for your appointment with dermatology. Will it be at Gloucester? My word you are a degree hotter than here now. I hope it wasn't too hot getting to your appointment.

Doctor was very efficient took photos with all the special equipment so I was very impressed. He also took in what I said about the performance with my nose op and when he wrote a letter to the dermatology secretary he mentioned that I had not heard anything. He didn't mention that he had read out the letter that the surgery had received which said I had been offered an appointment with another clinic. (I had not as you will all know). He is certain that three of the places are BCCs he also things the one on my leg is also. ahe reimded me that the other name for BCC was rodent ulcer.

anyway I now have to wait for an appointment at dermatology.

It is 31 degrees here.

We have everything shut in the daytime Mel, like it says to including closing the curtains and blinds on the sides the sun shines and in rooms we aren't using. It's only when it's cooler outside very early in the morning or late evening that we open the doors and windows to cool the rooms down. I hope you have your phone with you when you are in the garden and I don't know how you manage to do gardening. I suppose you are lucky having lower temperatures than the rest of us.

OH has at last managed to get an answer to his phone calls to the hospital to find out again where he is in the queue to see the rhuematologist. He isn't any further up the queue, but they have told him to go back to his gp again and tell him to escalate things. (again) The surgery seem to have held things up since he first saw them a year ago, never diagnosed him as he had to go private in the end, and are now being slow getting him the treatment he needs. Shocking when early treatment is recommended for the best outcome and it is preventing him do all he should be doing for his cardio rehab.

Mel do be careful in all this heat ,I hope you have a hat and a bottle of water with you when you go out ,the heat can soon get to you and you don't want heat stroke.

AnninGlos Report 30 Jun 2025 13:10

WEnt down Ruth's with the flowers and took the recyling bin out to see if they had been or not and they had'nt so I left that out and also put the old telly stand out in the hope they may take it but they did'nt. Came back in and took up the secs and loppers as I had had a look at the plum tree out the front and it had lots of dead branches on it so went up and cut off the dead I could reach. Pulled some sticky Willie from under the bramley apple up there too and then got extremly hot so came down for a drink.

Went out on the patio and coud hear a noise like clapping and on inspection saw it was a bird having a bath in my pond. It must have been on the water mint. wound the beans on the decking round the strings and took a couplke of side shoots out of the toms in the little greenhouse. Came in for another drink and see what you ot have been up to.

Pc says its 25 degrees but it feels a lot hotter than that out there and there's no breeze today.

I have a cream I have to use sparingly and if I put too much on it dos'nt work as well.

I don't open windows here as I find it gets hotter in the house if I do. I do do it in the evenings though. The only one that is oppen during the day is the bathroom as I have a heated towel rail in there I never turn off.

Pc is telling me now that to expect rain for 2 days starting Saturday.

Well I better get some lunch and change my clothes for something cooler andgo back up and clear the mess I made on the top field.

MillymollyAmanda Report 30 Jun 2025 12:27

That's a nice salad Ann I'd like all that except the eggs , you'll know not to use so much of the new cream ,some of these you need such a tiny amount I hope it helps .

27 degrees here and I've just got the washing in ,it was only out for about an hour but I didn't want dried to a crisp.

Mel I expect the lady is pleased to have freshly cut flowers from your garden

Morning All,

It's 27 degrees here now and no breeze. I took ages to get to sleep as the cream the doc gave me stung like mad but I probably put a bit too much on as it said to spread thinly. We opened the doors in the evening once it was cooler and the bit of breeze helped cool the bedrooms slightly so we weren't sticky, but I wouldn't have wanted to be any hotter. I woke at 6.00am and OH said he went out and did the watering at 5.00am and opened the doors and windows!! We were out really early to fetch the rest of my meds they said would be in on Friday afternoon and now they say it will be tomorrow so a wasted journey. I'll ring before I go tomorrow. We carried on to the big Co-op which is nicely air conditioned and stocked up on enough milk for this and next week for making builder's tea :-D and cordials for if the heat continues. Also zero alcohol beer to make us some shandy today.

It's good to get those things checked early when they are small AnnG. Hopefully it isn't an ulcer on your leg, but best dealt with sooner if it is. I'm sure it's what my sister had that got really bad, but she just called it an infection. OH is seeing the nurse this week and is going to get her to check something on his face. You can't be too careful can you.

What a shame the tablets are causing problems Mandy. I hope they can try some others that won't cause you problems and maybe something for the restless legs too. It's not nice having your tummy upset. I hadn't thought about fires with all that long, dry grass in the field behind us. The cows haven't made much impact on it yet. At least we don't have a wooden fence at the bottom and the shed at the bottom needs replacing anyway.

I'm glad you had a good sleep Mel. It's good you are able to help a friend out with some flowers for her. There must be lots of different foliage in your garden that she can use too.

Better put lunch together now. Baked potato with some cold fresh salmon filling I cooked yesterday moistened with some tartare sauce and lettuce, toms, cue and chopped spring onion and a boiled egg and we can add piccalilli and pickled beetroot. Then a read of the papers.

Just grinning to myself here. I really do know that leg ulcers need seeing to and I would have had it looked at 3 weeks ago if I could have got an appointment then. I am wondering though if anything has changed since my Dad had them roughly in the 1970s until 2001. Nothing got rid of his.
And I am not sure if it is an ulcer or another BCC.

Morning all,
Another hot one ,the suns shining and there's just a little cloud and a slight breeze and it's 20 degrees .

Yes get that checked out Anng ,leg ulcers can be nasty.

I have filled the form in at the doctors again my tablets don't suit me I have had upset tummy all weekend and at night my legs keep jumping and keep me awake I had a terrible night's sleep waking every hour with my legs jumping.
So I hope they can change my tablets for some thing that will suit .

Keep cool everyone and drink plenty with this heat and keep inside where you can .

AnninGlos Report 30 Jun 2025 09:18

Morning girls,

A very grey day here this morning but it is dry and has'nt rained over night. Its 18 degrees and pc says cooling trend over the next 2 days.

Hoping Mandy's knees are feeling better now she is taking the pills and you all managed to sleep a bit last night. I went out like a light and arose once for the loo at about 5 15am and went to sleep again till 8.39am.

I have to do the flowers again this morning for my friend up the road so I better get myself going.

AnninGlos

AnninGlos Report 30 Jun 2025 07:49

Good morning all, a very hot sticky night, took ages to get to sleep. Hopefully had enough in the end.
Doctor's this afternoon to check out 3 BCCs Probably just to get a referral. Waited 3 weeks for this one so it is probably going to drag on a bit yet Actually there is a fourth that I don't know if it is a BCC or a potential ulcer, it is on my lower leg. My Dad had an ulcer there for years. I think it started when he was in his 60s He used to have to dress it himself and I am pretty sure he still had it well into his 80s.

Oh Vera we never got to that temperature it's been quite a comfortable day in fact we've just come in from sitting out and my hands are quite chilly now .

So your well away with your new television,Mel you won't know what to watch first .

Ann I hope it doesn't get to that temperature that's too hot isn't it , mind you we're lucky it's not Greece and Portugal where we live I think they said its been 47 degrees .
I worry about fires when it's so dry a couple of years ago a whole row of 4 cottages went up in flames spread from the field behind in one of the villages ,my niece had lived in the end one that was gone , thank goodness she had moved
