Researching a George Pearce, says born Southampton circa 1845 as per ages declared on 1881, 1891, 1901 and 1911 census and at death. Believe he “ married” someone called Kate, Ended up in Romford. Unable to pin his birth or marriage down. Second marriage in Romford he declares father was George Pearce, a dockworker. Found a marriage in 1881 to a Kate Saunders, Southampton. Can anyone help check Southampton archives for marriage to establish fathers name on marriage? Any help gratefully acknowledged. Have found a few George Pearce’s in area in and around Southampton, but have been able to discount some of them. |

How did you work BACK to this man? |

Why does George need to tell you how he worked back when he has already told you that he has found him on all the census from 1881? |

Thanks all. I know George married a second time. In Romford, 1910, to a Florence Woods, stated he was a widower, and a Journeyman Carpenter age 64. There is a death for a Kate Pearce just before that, but Kate says born London, or Surrey depending which Census 1891/ 1901 you look at. I think I can discount the marriage to Kate Saunders. As for George Edward Pearce b 1843. It looks like that has a mothers maiden name of Ingram. The only Pearce/Ingram marriage suggests groom was Robert, not George. However there is a tree on Ancestry saying that George Edward died in 1855. Of course I am assuming George did marry a Kate rather than just in a relationship, plus Kate could be Catherine, Katherine etc. just unable to pin his first marriage and birth down. Will persevere…… |

Are you discounting the Kate Saunders marriage because it was Lewisham? This could also be referred to as part of London and may have covered parts of Surrey. |

The Kate Saunders marriage was in Southampton reg district - unless I'm confused. |
