Hello.
Would anyone be so kind to help with my maternal family tree. I'm hoping someone who is able to assist me finding my heritage. I've just recently had a DNA and has gone back as far as Afro Caribbean.
I don't have any info past 1889 (my maternal Grandmother) I've tried without success to find out where I originate from. Help would be extremely appreciated
Thank u for reading. Kind regards Lisa ??

Lisa

we need more information in order to be able to help you

You say that you have got back to your maternal Grandmother in 1889

Is that when she was born?

Where? What is her name? Who did she marry?

Do be aware that the DNA tests don't really help you to find your family, and we may not be able to find any Afro-Caribbean relatives.

Hello
Thank you for your reply.

I'm trying to find relatives of my gr8 grandma mabel Nicholls born 1887c. She had a daughter (father unknown on the birth certificate)called Hilda Nicholls born Aug 1909 who married Ernest Castle (from Suttong in Ashfield) in 1929. Hilda died aged 42 in 1952. There is strong connections with John & Ellen Parkin Nee Gee who i believe adopted Hilda.
I believe there's a link to Norwich and Mabel and Hilda lodged with a family called Millington.

Quite a family stumbling block as no one has any other info apart from whats above. Thanx in advance Lisa.

Hello Lisa, do you know if Mabel subsequently married?

Where and when were they lodging with the Millingtons?

Hi Lisa

To avoid duplicate research........please can you remove the two threads you have posted on the "Find Living Relatives" board for the same request.

Where was Hilda born?

Where was Mabel born?

Is this Mabel in 1911 - age a year or two out from what you thought, but if it's her it would help us to start finding out more about her. Bagthorpe at the time was the site of the Nottingham Workhouse/Infirmary where she is working as a Ward Domestic.

But one would have thought she would have her baby with her

if its the first one posted that would make sense that she had to find a home for her baby so she could work

This could be the Millington and Norwich connection, if so, ?? not the Mabel Nicholls in the 1911 census I posted above, as that says born NottS. It may mean that Mabel herself was illegitimate?
