Welcome to the boards, Howard.

Did the parents die, as the children appear to be split up, and did Gwilym Albro change his name, as it is very distinctive?

Added:
Have you got the parents' names from your grandfather's birth certificate, or the 1901 census?

Howard has Benjamin Harries, 1899, Union Workhouse, Cardigan, in his tree on here.

Would have helped to have the correct birth year.

:-)

Added:
In tree, Margaret Harries, 1903, no place of birth given.

So I have copied this over from that thread, to stop us hopping around:

1) David John-7/11/1895. 2 records in WW1 of PTE in Welsh reg and SRG in Warwick reg. We think the first would be hiim as he appeared to die in 1915. the latter in 1918.
2) Benjamin -7/7/1899 -my grandfather who ran away from home and joined the army we think it was the South Staffs who ended up in India where he died in 1948.
3) Margaret Ann - 27/7/1903 - records from workhouse don't show her after 1905??
4) Gwillam Albro - 21/5/1906. - records from workhouse don't show him again.

So have you found his mum after the birth of the youngest child ?

Did she marry?

Is it possible the two children went overseas in the child migrant scheme !

Many thanks to all of you who have responded to my request. I have updated a little more information to clarify some details.
David John Harries 1895 - 1978
Gladys Harries abt 1900
Benjamin Harries 1902
Margaret Anne Harries 1903
From Union Workhouse Records ‘Monday 16th April 1906 (Mary Anne Harries) Admission but no Margaret. Monday 21st May 1906 Birth Gwilym Albro HARRIES
Friday 31st August 1906 discharged
They were all born in the Union Workhouse, Cardigan. The father is unknown
David John Harries served in WW1 in The Welch Rgt in France and Gallipoli, and in The Imperial Camel Corps in Egypt, Palestine etc
Believed that Mary Anne Harries died between 1914 and 1918 at a railway station waving goodbye to her son David John HARRIES when he was going off to war, believed her skirts got caught in the carriage and dragged her under the train. Not known if she ever married but was with a red haired man who was a cattle drover and it is believed was murdered for his money (in Pembrokeshire?) in early 1900’s
Kind rergards
