On the 1881 census Thomas snr is listed as being a traveller would this be like a gypsy traveller or is it something different?

Thats strange about Ethel, because my grandmother was Ethel Mann daughter of Thomas junior and Louisa his wife but i believe she wasnt born until 1906 and she was a twin. So that Ethel must be one of Thomas's brothers children...confused.com lol
